Masters of Divinity (M. Div)
Masters of Divinity (M. Div.)
-
Curriculum focuses on the vocation of ordained ministry.
-
Designed primarily for students preparing for ordination in the Episcopal Church, but students pursuing ordination in other denominations are welcome.
-
Some applicants may have educational or vocational goals apart from ordination that can be undergirded by the M. Div. program.
-
All students are expected to involve themselves fully in academic study, corporate worship, private prayer, and service to the community.
-
Ecclesiastical endorsement is required for those pursuing ordination or whose M.Div. is intended as preparation for ordination.
-
In the Episcopal Church, this means endorsement by the student's bishop; for persons in other churches, it means endorsement by the comparable church authority.
-
Applicants to the M.Div. program not seeking ordination should articulate their goals clearly and state how the M.Div. would be important for fulfilling them.
-
Normally, applicants to the M.Div. program must hold the degree of Bachelor of Arts or its equivalent.
