Alumni/ae ~ Alumni and Alumnae
Alumni and Alumnae
Welcome, alumni and alumnae! As a graduate of or former student at GTS, you are automatically a member of the Associate Alumni/ae of the Seminary. In addition to the rest of the website’s contents, these pages are especially for you. On behalf of the Association’s Executive Committee, I urge your active participation in our fellowship.
As a continuing expression of commitment to the institution that educated and formed us for ministry, we as alumni/ae have three principal responsibilities:
- Supporting the Seminary in any and every way possible, including recommending potential seminarians and lay students, and giving to General--personally and through our parishes--to the annual fund, to periodic capital campaigns, and to the endowment through a bequest or other deferred gift.
- Nominating worthy candidates for consideration for the annual Distinguished Alumni/ae Award and for the conferral of honorary doctorates.
- Electing candidates to fill the alumni/ae seats on the Board of Trustees for bishop, priest and layperson.
In addition, we have opportunities to benefit continually from educational and enrichment experiences offered by the Seminary, including:
- Alumni/ae Week, held annually each spring and offering a range of speakers, workshops, faculty-led spiritual reflections, and more. Also featured is the annual alumni/ae dinner in the Refectory.
- Continuing Education Programs, embracing lectures, quiet days and other special events of interest to lay and ordained persons alike.
Please visit these pages frequently as your line of contact with the Seminary. We hope you will stay in touch and, better yet, that you will be a proud and frequent visitor to the Close.
Faithfully,
The Rev. Canon Lucinda R. Laird ’82
Chair, Alumni/ae Executive Committee and
President, Associate Alumni/ae of the General Theological Seminary
