Courses for Lay People and the Clergy
3 days Odd Couples in the Bible. JUNE 26-28. Phyllis Trible, Baldwin Professor of Sacred Literature Emerita, Union Theological Seminary. The juxtaposition of couples in the Bible often highlights challenging dimensions of faith. This course will explore the trials and tribulations of the founding parents, Eve and Adam, the sibling rivalry of Miriam and Moses, the clash of religions with Jezebel and Elijah, and the shock of reprimand with Jesus and the Syro-Phoenician Woman. $300. 3 CEUs.
4 days Putting It Together: Theatre and Theology. JULY 12-15. Back by Popular Demand! The Very Rev. Harry Pritchett, former Dean, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, and the Rev. Jay Wegman, Director of the Abrons Art Center in New York and former Canon for Liturgy and the Arts at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. An exploration of some of the theological and ethical assumptions in modern theatre. Participants attend three current New York productions and have opportunities to meet and share reflections
with several current artists. $675. 3 CEUs.
3 days Tithing Can Be Fun: Stewardship & Congregational Vitality. JULY 31-AUG. 2. Ms. Terry Parsons and the Rev. Michael E. "Corkie" Carlisle. Two seasoned professionals share the truth about theology, theory, and stewardship practices that grow healthy congregations and fund God’s work. Ms. Parsons is the Stewardship Officer of the Episcopal Church and Father Carlisle, a former missionary in Kenya, recently retired as Rector of St. Peter’s, Paris, KY, where he more than tripled stewardship in less than a decade. $325. 3 CEUs.

- Submit your application with payment to Helen Goodkin as shown below. Registration is incomplete without payment in full: We accept MasterCard and Visa and checks or money orders. Checks should be payable to "The General Theological Seminary."
- Deadlines for Application: June 1, 2006. Some late applications may be considered if space permits.
- Fee: The fee for each course is given in the application.
- Meals: Putting It Together and Tithing Can be Fun include lunch.

If there are no rooms available, they will be able to suggest alternatives. - Academic Course Credit and Continuing Education Credit: The number of CEUs available for each course is given in the application. Academic credit is not available for these courses.
- Cancellations and Refunds: On the above-cited registration deadline, a minimum number of participants must be registered or the course will be cancelled. In that case, fees will be returned in full or, if the applicant wishes, applied to another course. Refunds are not available to participants who cancel.
