It can be tough to book a room. Here at GTS, we appreciate your visit. As a small token of our appreciation we offer a discounted rate on rooms at The Desmond Tutu Conference Center to our Alumni/ae. We hope that you will enjoy being present here in our community, walking the gardens and worshipping with us in the Chapel of the Good Shepherd. Rooms are open to Alumni/ae based on availability.
It is important to remember that the Desmond Tutu Center is an active and exciting conference center where people from all over the world discuss issues affecting peace, reconciliation and social justice. Fulfilling our mission can mean that more rooms are occupied during special events. This beautiful facility only has 60 rooms, so be sure to book early. The Alumni/ae reduced rate is $175.00/night.
As you may find, comparable prices for hotels in this area of New York are more than twice that amount. The regular room rate for the conference center is also much higher, just to maintain our building in this historic Chelsea location. Here at General, we believe than any expense is worthwhile, if it brings our extended family of Alumni/ae home to the close. We do ask, however for your understanding regarding this expense, and only boook rooms for yourselves and your travelling companions. The room must be booked and paid for by an Alumni/ae of the General Seminary, and paid for by the same person. This will help to ensure that we can continue to lower costs for our GTS graduates.
