February 23, 2008 –“Your Faith Has Saved You”:Reflections on the Gospel Healing Stories and our Baptismal Covenant with Mrs. Helen Goodkin
For Christians, the stories of Jesus’ healing miracles in the Gospels represent great affirmations of God’s powerful love and salvation for his creation, an in-breaking of the Kingdom.  Join us for a day of close Bible reading and reflection that seeks to cast new light on Jesus’ healings so that we may begin to see these stories as illuminators of the promises we make in the Baptismal Covenant and as a blueprint for enabling and empowering our ministries to those who suffer.

Helen Goodkin, the former Director of the MA Program and Lay Education at the General Theological Seminary, has extensive experience in medical rehabilitation and disability rights.  She is also lay Bible Study Leader and EFM Mentor.

April 5, 2008World Christian Spiritualities with the Rev. Dr. Jonathan Linman, Director of the Center.

Travel, tourism, commerce and technologies bring to light the reality of our global village in which we are more fully aware of cultural diversity in the human family. Recent decades have also seen the remarkable growth of Christianity in the global south where expressions of Christian Spirituality are markedly different from northern hemisphere orientations and practices. Join us for a series of meditations on and conversations about the practice of the Christian faith in other parts of the world in the context of which we will expand the horizons of our assumptions and understandings of the nature of Christian Spirituality.

To register for these days please call the Center for Christian Spirituality (212-243-5150, x269 or 888-487-5649 x269), or send an e-mail to ccs@gts.edu. Quiet Days are normally held at the Seminary’s historic Seabury Auditorium normally starting at 10am and ending at 3pm. Lunch is provided. Cost is $30 per person which covers lunch, honorariums paid to Quiet Day leaders and various expenses.
