Discerning Your Spiritual Gifts: A Day-Long Conference for People of Color
- Saturday, April 19, 2008
Every one of us has a unique calling that makes use of our gifts and talents and brings us joy. Discovering our vocation is part of God’s plan for us. Many are called to work as lay people in the church; indeed, many of us are already sharing our gifts in this way. Others are called to the ordained ministry -- either as deacons or as priests. The purpose of discernment is to explore and discover our spiritual gifts and to learn how we can best use them. Of course, some discernment occurs in solitude; however, discernment must also occur in community with one another. Through our work together today, you will leave this conference with a new understanding of your gifts.

It is the mission of The General Theological Seminary to educate and form leaders for the church in a changing world. Because people of color are historically underrepresented in church-wide leadership positions, we take our charge seriously to seek out, to encourage, and to involve all of God’s people in their ministries.
This event is free. Please contact the Office of Admissions to register for this event. For further questions, please email Karen Davis Lawson, President of SOCA at kdavis@gts.edu.
