General Theological Seminary is honored to host this anti-racism training, offered by the Episcopal Diocese of New York and open to both students of the seminary and outside participants.
The purpose of the training is to help us become aware of how the sin of racism impacts ALL of our lives and our ministries within the church and in society. The training also invites us to recognize and own how we all, unconsciously and consciously, participate in racist social structures and institutional systems.
Dialog is the foundation of the two days. We use groups exercises and, together, examine scientific and historical evidence concerning the origins of the concept of race and its legacy.
The workshop is helpful to anyone, but especially to those who seek to help build the reign of God.
General Seminary students may enroll without cost, as the training is included in tuition. Students who complete both days of this anti-racism training will have their participation recorded as CS 199 - Anti-Racism Training on their formal transcripts.
Outside participants are requested to pay a $75 fee for the training.
