LT 188 — LIVING THE PASCHAL MYSTERY: HISTORY AND THEOLOGY OF THE LITURGICAL YEAR
This course will examine the evolution of the liturgical year, including its roots in Judaism, the development of a weekly gathering/celebration on Sunday, the controversies in the early church over when and how to celebrate Easter, and the development of Epiphany and Christmas. How the year disintegrated during the Middle Ages, how the Reformers modified what they inherited, and the recovery of the liturgical year in the twentieth century will also be explored.
