PT 2 — PASTORAL CARE AND COUNSELING
Pastoral care is the art of ministry as it relates to the specific needs or persons and communities of faith. In this course we will focus on major psycho-social theories of care and specific interventions for predictable human needs, such as birth, illness, death, marriage, divorce, and life passage celebrations, etc.. Topics will include effective listening skills, premarital counseling, marriage counseling, divorce counseling, counseling gays and lesbians, and ministry in times of crisis, illness, death, and mourning. Attention will also begiven to the ethics of pastoral ministry, self-care, and supervision of pastoral ministry.
Prof. Lamborn. 3 credits.
Michaelmas 2013. Tuesdays, 11:00am-12:20pm, and Thursdays, 9:30-10:50am.
